LAW LEMON GUIDE TO BUY A NEW CAR

In the USA a car is a real necessity and owing it won’t cost you a fortune. Important thing is to choose the right car which can save you lots of nerves and money. If you want to buy a car you should be relaxed, patient and positive. To feel in this way you have to be informed. So read this new car buying guide to find some useful tips.
If you have limited budget you can buy used car from private sellers (internet, newspaper ads), from a dealership (dealership, internet) or in an auction (radio or other ads or auctions advertised on newspaper).
New cars are mostly sold by factory authorized  dealers. All new cars will have a paper attached to a window with a list of features about the car and the suggested retail price of the vehicle. Most buyers pay less than the window sticker price as the price is usually negotiable.
The best time to buy a car is the end of December, when everybody is buying gifts motivating dealers to cut prices. The second good time to buy a car is July to October as car dealers to clear space  for new car models sell off cars at low prices.
It is important to prioritize what you would like in a car and consider your budget. Nowadays many people prefer Japanese cars over American as they require less maintenance. The most popular car manufacturers are Honda and Toyota.
Buying a new car you shouldn’t have any maintenance problems during the first few years after purchasing a new car. New cars have also a warranty. To buy it you should research automobile magazines, consumer reports, and online to decide what kind of car you would like to buy.
Remember do not leave more than $500 as a deposit  and make sure you pay with a credit card rather than a check. If the dealer doesn’t have the car you want to buy and he says that he will get it from another dealer for you so you better go to the dealer that has the car to avoid all sorts of problems.
When you go for a test drive the car dealer may ask you for your driving license to make a photocopy of it. They say that it is necessary for insurance purposes which is not true. They want to run a credit check. They may pass this information to local banks that will run your credit history. Whenever your credit history is run, your credit score may go down by 5 to 10 points. So remember don’t let them make a photocopy of your  driver’s license. You can bring your own copy and write that dealers must not run authorized credit checks. Remind them also that Federal Trade Commission charges $2,500 for unauthorized credit checks.
Before buying a car we should learn some terms connected with price.
  • - Invoice price – the manufacturer’s initial charge to the dealer
  • - Base price – the cost of the car without options but includes standard equipment
  • - Monroney Sticker Price – shows the base price affixed to the car window. The label is required by federal law and can be removed only by the purchaser
  • - Dealer Sticker Price – the Monroney sticker price plus the suggested retail price of dealer-installed options.
